This is about the July 2nd concert in San Antonio. It started out with my friend having the brilliant idea to paint our faces like Wes Borland. Cause we basically worship him. We figured this would give us a little bit more of an edge to meeting him. The first thing that happened was the guy we called that worked at Sunken Garden gave us the wrong opening gate time so we got there about an hour and a half early which was OK it turned out. The ticket line was amazing. While we were sitting waiting to get in some little kids were looking through the fence and said they saw the band eating at what they though was a bbq. I was like of whatever kid and I looked through and I could see Wes eating. I was like it's fucking Wes Borland. We waited a little bit more and they opened the gates. At the time it seemed like an hour and a half wasn't enough cause we were at this barrier in the second line of it. My friend who had his face painted in the white with blue lipstick with a cross commented that when he had been at sunken for tool the barrier was a good 10 ft closer. Mine was the yellow with the blue lip stick and the red circle. Just after he said that the security guards told us to start coming this way. He pointed us to another barrier like 5ft from the stage. We got right on the right side right at the front where Wes would be set up. It was really hot this day! People would occasionally ask the security guards for some water cause they had a big thing of it, but they wouldn't and would waste it in front of us. The way the stage was set up there was a gap on the right side where you could see past the stage, and you could see people standing around. You'd see Sam or Lee walk by every once and a while. I though I noticed Lee pointing at me and my friend before the show cause of our faces. Just before Staind went on we had seen Lee about twice, Sam 3 or 4, Fred twice, no John, but we were really hoping that Wes would come out cause it was hard to not scratch that face paint. He doesn't... Staind comes on. We're on the right side so we "endure" Johnny's bass which was great but being so "fat" it seemed to make the air thicker. Staind put on a great show!! I loved every minute of them. The wait between Staind and Kid Rock wasn't that bad. Kid Rock comes on I'm not gonna say much about that cause I'm not a Kid Rock fan but he put on a good show though. Joe C wasn't there is what Kid Rock said. He said he wasn't going to be there for 3 shows on this tour and this was one of them. He went off. The wait was terrible!!!! I was dyeing we needed water so bad. My friend said at Tool they brought out a fire hose, but they didn't do that at this one. I was really in trouble i was trying to hold on. My friend was like begging, he wasn't doing great either. It seemed they were having some trouble with the wirelesses that might of added to the delay. At this point I went out. I was really pissed went over and bought some water and then in five minutes the intro starts playing. I was mad at my self for coming out, but at least I stayed at the front the entire time I was there. They played a couple of songs and I was kinda wandering around looking for someone, and it had been about 3 songs then I found my friend. He was exhausted. But he was like "oh my god during counterfeit I was looking at Wes and he pointed right to me" I was like are you sure and he said yeah I wasn't really sure what to think of that at the time. They would finish which was the best show I've ever seen in concert. I noticed that like 6 people were taken out on ambulances. They would finish with Faith which was a little disappointing cause I knew there were a lot of MTV loving Limp Bizkit fans which sucks, but what are you gonna do. As soon as they finished we ran out cause my friend knew where the tour buses were. We kinda "sneaked" around and were waiting when this security guard made us leave and accused us of breaking windshields on a Eclipse. We just sat and waited and waited we had pics for them to sign. After a while Lee came out and we got him to sign our stuff. Then more waiting I was looking for Mike from Staind but he would never come by. The next to come out was Sam and he was great! When he signed our stuff I was like thanks man and he went " hell yeah" I was like he was still down to earth Sam. Kid Rock would come out. Then a long ass wait before anybody would come out. I saw Aaron from Staind walk by and I was like Aaron no one else was going over there for his autograph so I felt good. So me and my friends got him to sign our stuff and I was like you guys were great. And he kinda walked to catch up with me and shook my hand and said thanks and how much it had meant to him. So I was feeling great. So after that the three of us just sat. Jon from Staind would come out and he signed out stuff and he got to talking to my friends brother about Tool. A security guy came by and people asked him if Wes was coming out and he said he was probably talking to his wife that he talks to her for hours every night. And I just thought that was the coolest thing in the world. I found a new way to respect him. But the people there were assholes they were like I don't care if he's fucking talking to his wife he needs to get his ass out here he owes me something. This really pissed me off cause it was like they had no respect for his life or him. Around 2:30 am we walked to the second tour bus and the three of us kinda stood a ways back like 15 ft but the other people went up and knocked on the door. Wes came out and my hand started to shake but I noticed he wasn't stopping at the people by the bus he was walking right over to me and my friend. It might of been the face paint. But he walks right over to my friend and shakes his hand and says " hey it's my man from the front he looked crazier than me tonight" my jaw must have dropped. I know he was in shock. We got him to sign stuff I had so much I wanted to say to Wes about how much I looked up to him, how much I wanted to thank him for everything, how much I respected and looked up to him just stuff like that, but I couldn't all I could say is how much of an inspiration he was to me. I wish I could of said more. Then Fred came out and when he signed my stuff he walked away to this girl who I presumed to be his girlfriend and pointed at the picture I had. I don't know what he showed her. After he signed and I said thanks he looked at me like he was processing my face I think he remembered me from the front, but I don't know. The next day when we looked at out signatures on all three of ours Johns signature was different. It was the best night of my life so far. If there's any chance wes would read this I wondered if he remembered the two guys with the yellow and white face painted like him. And just to know how much he has done for them, and he's just the total shit. We look up to his as our idol. |
